The Mexican Fiesta
Sophie (me) and Rod were getting married in Mexico. Taking influence from the Mexican culture and combining it with Sophie’s taste/ British heritage was the focus for this wedding stationery suite.
The save the date was inspired by the famous Mexican tapestries. Taking the bird icons traditionally associated with the tapestries and combining icons associated with the couple (lemons, swans etc) and hot foiling the design created a contemporary iteration. Filling tracing paper envelopes with colourful foil and tissue paper brought colour and a playful touch to the design (also a nod to the contents of Mexican Pinatas.).
The swan icons from the save the date had connotations to a passport cover and inspired the concept for the invitation. Because the wedding was abroad the invitation needed to include a lot of information so a booklet seemed the most appropriate format. To be in-keeping with the playful style of the save the date the information heavy invitation took the tone and style of a chatty travel guide, it’s compact size was to encourage guests to pack it and use it as their ‘go to guide’ throughout their trip.
Little doodled line drawings are peppered throughout the information. To tie it back to the save the date the ‘passport’ cover was hot foiled. The back page of the booklet is the postcard style detachable R.S.V.P so it can be posted back. The priority with this design was to be informative, usable and helpful.
